The redevelopment of Prague's historic Masaryčka railway station area has reached completion. Designed by IAARC+, the new office and retail building introduces a futuristic, ribbed metal facade that pays homage to the tracks and locomotive power of the rail terminal.
The facade's external gold-toned ribs shift dynamic shadow angles as the sun moves, creating a shifting architectural pattern throughout the day. The building provides a mix of Grade-A office spaces, central retail pathways, and open public terraces.
The project incorporates a new public plaza over the railway tracks, bridging adjacent neighborhoods and opening a pedestrian avenue to the station platforms. High sustainability features include rainwater recovery, energy-efficient triple glazing, and low-embodied carbon construction materials.
