The construction of Taipei's iconic Danjiang Bridge has entered its final phases. Spanning the Tamsui River, this structure is designed to be the world's longest single-tower asymmetric cable-stayed bridge, significantly cutting congestion and improving transit links in northern Taiwan.
The bridge's architectural mast is designed to be as slender as possible, ensuring it does not obstruct Taipei's famous sunset views over the river mouth. By using an asymmetric cable arrangement, the bridge requires only a single concrete support tower, minimizing maritime ecosystem impact.
In addition to vehicular lanes, the bridge features a dedicated cycle path and a wide public pedestrian walkway. This turns the infrastructure into a scenic public space where residents can walk, sit, and enjoy panoramas of the Tamsui Estuary.
